SHAC Needs You!

Texas Education Code, Title 2, Subtitle F, Chapter 28, Subchapter A, §28.004  requires every school district to have a SHAC. The majority of the members of the Council must be parents and community members. Other important members of SHAC include TISD teachers and students. There is a minimal time investment on the member's part, as there are four meetings per school year.

The Thrall ISD SHAC serves as an advisory council that is approved by the School Board. SHAC provides recommendations on the school’s health education curriculum and instruction for consideration by the School Board. The council will address the continued implementation of a coordinated health program including health education, physical education, health services, nutrition services, counseling, safe and healthy school environment, staff health promotion and family/community involvement/community service.

Becoming a member of our Thrall ISD SHAC is an excellent opportunity to reinforce and enhance your child’s experience at TISD.

If you are interested in serving, please contact Mrs. Lynn Crabb, District Nurse, by May 31, 2019 (898-5293).
